located on the east side of the resort property, kaanapali beach hotel has approx. 130 rooms to match the levels of variety and comfort afforded by our kaanapali shores condo and our honu villas. the kaanapali beach hotel features a variety of standard resort accommodations including standard “rustic” style units, standard 2-bedroom suites and 3-bedroom villas. most rooms at kaanapali beach hotel are located on the ocean front side of the property.
from kaanapali beach hotel we have rooms at the ritz-carlton, kapalua, which is a true luxury hotel – but, its a small luxury offering about 3 blocks from the pool – or, the grand wailea if you prefer a more tropical experience. our favorite? the celebrity wailea and moana wailea. however, there are more locations on the second floor pool. the paradise island and mauna kea have their own pool and menu options. all three stay full most of the year. if you love resort beach service, then you wont want to miss makena beach, which is a full service resort with its own restaurant. we enjoyed this in the morning and the tennis and boat rentals at sunset beach, which are included, and your beach. hawaii is not always our top choice for restaurant options but the ones here do a good job.
yet, we just cant forget about being on the beach! there are so many great options for living here, from the traditional full resort to the condo-like kaanapali shores. take a good look and discover the benefits of sunset beach, wailea beach or kona beach-– home of the infamous paddle surfing.
the first thing i did was test out the jacuzzi tub, which was large enough for two people at the same time. once in the warm water we took advantage of the double shower heads, which offered different varieties of shower heads. the complimentary toiletries were a set of large bottles of lotion, shampoo, and conditioner.
the beds were plush, and the pillows were cool to the touch. our room was furnished with a throw rug and two lamps that had come with our villa. our first few days were filled with activities such as sightseeing, shopping, and lunch.
at the resort is a fruit stand where we brought our purchases back for the next day. the place was a little overpriced, but in maui we were more concerned with paying only what was necessary. we were a little taken back when we went to the lobby to use the photocopier and realized that it was a high-end photocopier, not a device you would find at a regular copy store.
the kitchen was stocked with a small amount of non-perishable food, a vacuum, paper towels, dish towels, cleaning products, and a blender. the kitchen was not very well stocked, but this was because we ate out a lot. the room was a bit too warm and i do wish i had chosen a cooler room. the view from the balcony however was really nice!
our room did not have a television, which was a little bit of a bummer. it was fairly easy to go to the restaurant and grab a pizza from the kitchen. we did have a safe in our room, which was nice because of the remote codes. we had no need for this feature, but it did come in handy.
the room had enough room for two people, however they had put in a king-sized bed, a pull out recliner, a table and two chairs, a small fridge, coffee pot, and electrical outlet. the table moved into the bathroom when the recliner was pulled out.
